Th is textbook on fi nancial accounting, reporting, and analysis is aimed principally at level two

undergraduate students on specialist accounting and fi nance degree programmes, although

it may be relevant for postgraduate courses in fi nancial statement analysis. It is assumed that

all readers will have completed an introductory fi nancial accounting course, and may go

on to study more advanced fi nancial reporting courses. Th ere is, however, an introductory

chapter which revises the main topics covered in introductory fi nancial accounting courses

and textbooks, and this provides a foundation on which the remainder of the textbook’s

material is built. Th e textbook’s basis is international fi nancial reporting standards issued by

the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB).
